Desert Eagle Magazine Release Removal How-To

Recommended Posts

Seen this asked a lot of places. 99% of field stripping the IMI desert eagle is common sense. The magazine release can be a bit of a pain though because it looks like a standard M1911 se up, but it is not. Below you can see the catch partially removed.

The peice that looks like the screw on a M1911 is actuall a split pin. To remove the catch all you need to do it drift it out with a punch and hammer from the right side of the weapon. This will be the same on .357, 41ae, .44, .50ae, MKVII and MK XIX pistols.

Hope this helps some people. This one stumped me for a while.

Good to see good old HCL still works. 90 second bath and all the bluing was gone. Will wire brush it and hot solvent tank it tomorrow.
